Gaming test build for AvenorOS. This is a pre-release for benchmarking on real hardware. It is not a replacement for 1.0.0.
What's new
- Low-latency CPU scheduler:
scx_lavd(sched_ext) on the stock kernel - gamemode, which switches the CPU to performance while a game runs
- amd-pstate in active mode
- sysctl tuning for games (memory and scheduler settings)
- zram compressed swap
- Steam with Proton
- NVIDIA and Radeon (Mesa) graphics drivers
- MangoHud for frame-time logging
- The
/usrslot is now 4 GB (was 3 GB). The ISO is 5.56 GB.
Known limits
- Idle RAM is about 1.1 GB in a VM, up from about 950 MB in 1.0.
- Not tested on real hardware yet. amd-pstate could not be checked in the VM.
- Steam starts, but its first launch was not seen finishing in testing.
- No installer. Run it live from a USB stick.
- The version string inside the image still says 0.3.2.

Run the same BeamNG.drive replay three times on Windows 11 and three times on AvenorOS, with the same settings and on the same GPU, then compare 1% and 0.1% lows with bench/beamng-lows. Full steps are in bench/README.md.
